Picture
An engineer visited our school in October. He was booked through Engineering Week.
We did lots of activities with him.

The Gears Challenge
Today I set a challenge for the senior room Rang 4 – Rang 6. All the children were timed to see who could place all the gears on the board so that when you turn one gear the rest would move. The person who completed the task in the quickest time won the challenge.
Every child was eager to participate. It was interesting to watch the children approach the challenge. There was tension in the air as the first few completed the task. We timed each child with a stop watch. Finally the times were read out.
Jake won the challenge with a speed of 25 seconds followed by Trudie who completed it in 30 seconds and Chloe came third with a time of 33 seconds.
There was a difference of 4 minutes and 4 seconds between the quickest and the slowest challenger.
Everyone had great fun and they are all looking forward to repeating the exercise again.
