Engineers Week 2013

We had great fun during Engineers Week. We did the quiz and all the activities from the site for primary schools. Everyone had to take responsibility for one experiment. We had to gather the materials needed and show the rest of the class how it worked. See our photo gallery below....
Our Engineers Week Experiments
Artificial limb
I made an artificial limb, I used rubber bands thin rope, string and scissors. I liked this experiment a lot, and the good thing about this is when I get a broken arm I don’t need a cast - D
Peel a raw egg
I watched C do this experiment and this is what she did!
What you will need: clear vinegar, a raw egg, a glass jar with a lid [1/2 litre]
What to do:
1 Fill up half of the jar with the clear vinegar
2. Place the raw egg inside the jar making sure the egg does not crack
3. Tighten the lid on the jar
4. Rest the jar safely on a shelf for about 36 to 48 hours. [do not shake or move the jar

My science project for engineer’s week is bending water
How I did it
I got a comb and brushed it thought my hair then I turn on the tap very lightly and if you put the comb near the water and it will bend
Engineers Week Experiment - Diet Coke and Mentos
What was needed: 2× packets of mints and 2× bottles of diet coke
What I did: well I simply dropped the mints into the coke bottle and waited to see what would happen.
What Happened: It exploded and I had to run as fast as I could so I wouldn’t get wet.
It was amazing speaking with you.

I put a string on the door with some tape and got a box and pulled up a nail by using the string. By L
