A Visit from the National Parks and Wildlife Service

This year we decided to invite a representative of the National Parks and Wildlife Service to the school. 
We had a great time learning about mini-beasts and bugs of all descriptions! 
Mini-beasts are very important to our world. Some, such as the honey bee are under threat and need to be protected. 

We met some interesting characters such as the otter pictured here. 
We learned about vertebrates and invertebrates, did some worksheets and a quiz and then we went out to the school garden for a mini-beast hunt. 
We found lots of interesting little creatures and we were able to show off our lovely insect hotel. 
When we were finished we put them all back where we found them.
