Engineering 2018

1. Visit to Errigal Contracts Ltd

Our engineering trip this year was to Errigal Contracts
2nd, 4th, 5th and 6th went with their teachers to visit Errigal Contracts nearby in Clara.
Established in 1996, Errigal Contracts Ltd is a market leader in the interior fit-out sector for Ireland, the UK and abroad. We specialise in partition systems, ceilings and bespoke solutions. In recent years, due to client demands, we have developed our external façade services and we also offer full fit out services for our clients.

2. Class Visit by Engineer

We had a visit organised through Engineers Week - Claire Hughes from Monaghan County Council came to talk to 4th, 5th and 6th classes about her work as an engineer.

3. Class Stem Challenges

Noah was involved in organising some STEM challenges for his classmates.
He had to explain to his teacher and the class what the challenge was and then he had to monitor how everyone got on.
The first challenge was the plastic cup tower building challenge.
Children in groups had to build the highest tower they could using disposable plastic cups.
They experimented with 2D and 3D towers to see which worked best.
The winning team got homework passes.
